It's a known bug.
Even with Rev. C., it's still flickers.
WORK AROUND:
Render out the entire scene, without
the glowing objects (field rendering on).
Bring the frames back in as a background
image sequence. Render just the glows over
that sequecenc (no field rendering).
Had a recent project, with electric bolts turning on
part of a John Deere logo. Same problems with flickers, etc.
I did it in two passes, and it worked out just fine.
